Product Review: Fulom Moisturizing Face and Body Cleanser

Cleansing is an important part of any skin care routine. When you properly cleanse your skin, it’s prepared for the rest of the treatments in your regime that will result in healthy skin. A well formulated gentle cleanser is the first step in your journey to healthy skin, no matter your age or skin type.

As you know, I have dry skin and eczema, so a gentle cleanser is an absolute essential in my skin care. In my search for a great cleanser, I came across Fulom Skin Care.

Fulom is an American skin care brand based in Texas. All their products are based on the active ingredient organic fulvic acid. The first time I read that, I was psyched because I had come across a study about fulvic acid being extremely effective in the treatment of dry and damaged skin conditions like contact dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema.

Fulvic acid is a phenomenal humic mineral antioxidant that is anti inflammatory, anti microbial and anti aging. It is able to penetrate the skin and deliver nutrients to dry and damaged skin cells while battling free radicals and rendering them useless. You can read more about fulvic acid here.

All Fulom products are formulated without parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate or petroleum products.

Fulom Cleanser

The Product

The Fulom moisturizing face and body cleanser claims to “contain extra moisture to leave your dry skin feeling soft, healthy, hydrated and refreshed.” From the very first time I used it, this has proven true. It is not formulated with the harsh, oil stripping surfactant sodium lauryl sulphate but with gentle cleansing agents like cocamidopropyl betaine and decyl glucoside. These mild soap agents leave your skin hydrated and your moisture barrier extremely thankful.

The product is a slightly orange water soluble gel. I apply it on wet skin and massage my face for about a minute before rinsing it off. It doesn’t foam which is great because I have come to detest the oil stripping nature of most foaming cleansers.

As you squirt the gel on your finger, you will get a slight citrus fragrance. I’m not the greatest fan of scented products and as refreshing as this scent might be for some, I’m glad that it doesn’t linger, it rinses away.

The Fulom cleanser comes in an 8oz travel friendly plastic tube. This makes it the perfect cleanser for your gym bag; just pop it in with no nagging thoughts of leaking.

The Ingredients and their Functions (in Brackets)

Water (solvent), Cocamidopropyl Betaine (surfactant), Decyl Glucoside (surfactant), Organic Fulvic Acid (antioxidant), Glycerin (humectant), Peg-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate (thickener), Peg-7 Glycery Cocoate (emollient), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis(Orange) oil, Phenoxyethanol (preservative), Ethylhexylglycerin (preservative), Fragrance (fragrance)

As you can see from the first five ingredients (i.e. the ones which really matter: mild surfactants, antioxidant and humectant) this is a very well formulated cleanser.

Performance: As promised, this cleanser effectively gets rid of grime while keeping your skin hydrated. If you have dry, sensitive, eczema prone skin like I do, this cleanser might just be what you are looking for.
